Adeline in Italy

Dernière mise à jour :

Adeline was an Erasmus student in Turin from september to december 2014. Follow her story !

"You quickly feel at home in Turin"

After a few months Adeline was perfectly acclimatized to the city. She shared a house with other students and she knew every corner! The mandatory day for school orientation helped her to understand how the university works and the student group made the rest !

In Turin you have many chances to meet foreign students, in the university libraries (more than 70!), around the Faculty and in the student areas, full of bars and places to rest in between classes, like the Piazza Vittorio, Via Lagrange or in the San Salvario neighborhood.

"The city is wonderful, dynamic and there are many things to do and discover!"

Recommended places

Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Carlo Alberto, Piazza Castello, Piazza San Carlo, the Monte dei Cappuccini (to enjoy a beautiful view of the city), the Mole Antonelliana (symbol of Turin), the Parco Valentino, the Lungo Po... and much more !

City life is really enjoyable, culturally alive with expositions, movie festivals, concerts and museums like the Egyptian Museum, the Galleria Sabauda, the Museum of the Cinema and historical royal residences like Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale and the Reggia of Venaria Reale with its beautiful gardens.

Adeline had time to do some shopping too! With two big shopping centers (Lingotto and Le Gru) and three main shopping ways (Via Roma, Via Po, Via Garibaldi) you really are plunged in to Italian fashion !

Even though at the beginning Adeline had some difficulties in communicating with the Italian people and had some problems with the Italian lack of organization, the university staff helped her to solve practical problems.

She found an apartment through the Facebook group Erasmus Torino and she began to discover the city thanks to many Erasmus groups like "studenti francesi a Torino", "français à Turin" and "Erasmus student network Torino".

"I love Italy.. the culture, the language, the food. I've always dreamt of taking a year abroad and learn Italian!"
